What We Believe

Rooted in Truth, Growing in Faith

Discover what we believe about God, the Bible, salvation through Jesus Christ, baptism, and living a life shaped by faith and grace.

Our Faith

  • We believe that our world belongs to God.
  • We believe that God loves people and he demonstrated this love by sending His One and only Son into the world to die for our sins.
  • We believe that God is knowable and a relationship with Him is possible through faith in Jesus as Savior. It is a gift!
  • We believe that this plan of rescue is revealed in the Word of God of the Old and New Testaments.  It is reliable, trustworthy and true.

Our Core Beliefs

  • The Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God and is our authority for faith and life.
  • There is one God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, three persons in one God.
  • Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human, born of the Virgin Mary, crucified for our sins, raised bodily from the dead, and coming again.
  • Humanity is fallen into sin and cannot earn salvation through good works.
  • Salvation is by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ, based on Christ’s saving work, not our own merit
  • The Holy Spirit gives new life, produces faith, lives in believers, and equips the church.
  • God is sovereign over creation and salvation, and his grace is at work redeeming his people and restoring his creation.
  • The Church is the people of God, called to worship, fellowship, proclaim the gospel, serve others, and live under Christ’s authority.
  • Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are sacraments given by Christ as signs and seals of God’s covenant promises.
  • God’s covenant of grace extends to believers and their children, which is why CRC churches practice infant baptism as well as baptizing new believers.
  • Jesus Christ will return, the dead will be raised, God will judge humanity, and his people will live with him in the renewed creation.

What is Reformed? The Reformed distinctive grew out of a movement in Northern Europe in the 16th and 17th century that emphasized God’s guiding hand in history and salvation. It is the belief that God’s word is infallible and authoritative in matters of faith and life, God’s grace is a gift and cannot be earned and that Jesus was sent into the world by the Father to deliver his people from their sins.

These beliefs and others are held in the Heidelberg Catechism, Belgic Confession and the Synod of Dort which we adopt.

Baptism
